Ireland’s Airbus C295 Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) is operated by the Irish Air Corps to monitor the country’s maritime territory and fishing zones. The aircraft conducts patrols over the North Atlantic to detect illegal fishing, pollution, and other maritime activities. It is equipped with radar, LIDAR, and electro-optical sensors that provide real-time data on vessels and surface conditions, allowing effective monitoring in varied weather.

The C295 uses Airbus’ Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) to coordinate information from multiple sensors and communication channels. This integration enables crews to locate and track vessels more efficiently and has reduced overall mission duration compared to older aircraft.
