General Atomics demos Mojave gun pod live-firing

General Atomics published a video last month of its Mojave Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) conducting a live-fire demonstration with its pair of Dillon Aero DAP-6 Gun Pod Systems at the Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona.

According to General Atomics, “The Mojave technical demonstrator shares common systems and components with GA-ASI’s modernized Gray Eagle 25M, effectively providing an expeditionary Gray Eagle STOL capability. In addition to a wing kit option for Gray Eagle, GA-ASI is planning one for the larger MQ-9B aircraft, which includes SkyGuardian® and SeaGuardian® models.”

The Mojave has a Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) capability ‘that can perform in areas once considered unsuitable for UAS operations,’ according to the company.

Last November, the Mojave also demonstrated the ability to operate from aircraft carriers.
