The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) published the latest video in its series ‘Behind the Artifact’ in which it focuses on items in the CIA museum and explains their significance in the intelligence agency’s history of espionage.

In this episode, the focus is on the airlines set-up by the CIA as cover for its operations in South East Asia, during the Vietnam War, for the transport of personnel and logistics, as well as search and rescue.

The video explains the details that had to be satisfied for the cover to work — from actual civilian air services for regular, ticket-buying passengers, to onboard swag and aircrew uniforms.
